Limit Alcohol Consumption

Most alcoholic beverages are high in caloric content, increase hunger, dehydrate the body and slow your body’s ability to metabolize carbohydrates—a process in total opposition to your goals. When choosing alcohol, enjoy a lite beer or glass of wine with a meal.

Avoid Soda

What is it about soda that is so hard to resist? It may be the caffeine, the sugar in regular soda or the artificial sweeteners in diet soda, which are addictive and tend to increase your cravings for sugars.

If you are a soda drinker, reduce your intake slowly, week by week, until you stop completely. Keep plenty of your favorite non-soda drinks on hand to make giving up this habit as easy and convenient as possible.

You may also cut excessive calories from juices by making a homemade juice spritzer. Just combine the juice with seltzer, mineral water, or club soda blends and replace soda with low calorie beverages such as iced tea, flavored waters and juice spritzers.
